Billing Process

Medical Insurance vs. Vision Plans

Vision plans can help to cover the cost of an eye exam where a patient doesn't have a specific complaint related to a medical condition or has any eye disease that needs to be managed. Vision plans can also help to cover part of the cost of eyeglasses and contact lenses.

Medical insurance helps to cover the cost of eye exams where a patient has a specific complaint related to a medical condition or requires the monitoring and care for medical conditions including but not limited to: diabetes, cataracts, dry eyes, eye irritation, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.

Uninsured Procedures

Some services and care are not covered by insurance and you will be billed directly for them. There may be co-pays, deductibles or a percentage of costs that you will pay out-of-pocket as required by your insurance policy.

Payment Policies

Stoughton Eye Care & Eyewear policy is co-pays and certain diagnostic tests and treatments are due at the time services are rendered. We will be happy to bill your insurance and after your insurance company determines what they will cover any remaining costs due to deductibles, co-insurance or percentages of cost will be billed to you.

Contact Your Insurer Before Visiting Us

Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer and the insurance company; not with the doctor. We encourage you to speak with your insurance company PRIOR to your appointment about your plans specific details. Then, as always, feel free to ask us questions about how they will apply to your upcoming visit.
